However, something else is there and it's influencing them. A young man finds out that his parents had been used in an atomic-weapons experiment shortly before he was born, and that the results have had some unexpected effects on him. Pretty poor Firestarter clone that seems more like a bad TV movie than a bad feature film. How disappointing for this to come from Hooper and Dourif!
Government contractors do a human experiment with a Hydrogen bomb. The boy born to the couple from the experiment constantly runs a fever of degrees, and when he's an adult, people in his life start spontaneously combusting. He tries to find out why. The people completely on fire are well done, but when they get to the point that they are well done in another sense, they're obviously changed to dummies. When jets of fire shoot out of characters' arms, it looks silly rather than alarming the way it should.
Also ridiculous is fire that evidently travels through phone lines and erupts in huge jets from the receiver's earpiece. How is that supposed to happen, exactly? Something else that struck me as silly about the movie is when a character has visions of his late parents. We later see the exact same shots from those visions in home movies. Police forensic officers decided that the incineration of Thomas was due to the wick effect. In December , the death of Michael Faherty in County Galway , Ireland, was recorded as "spontaneous combustion" by the coroner. The doctor, Ciaran McLoughlin, made this statement at the inquiry into the death: The most recent reported case of apparent SHC occurred in the early afternoon of 17 September in Tottenham , north London, when a year-old pensioner , John Nolan from County Mayo in Ireland , appeared to spontaneously burst into flames while walking in the street.
Spontaneous combustion or spontaneous ignition is a type of combustion which occurs by self-heating followed by thermal runaway and finally, autoignition. Spontaneous human combustion (SHC) is a term encompassing reported cases of the combustion of a living (or very recently deceased) human body without an .
At the time, investigators were unable to establish a reason for this incident and his death was treated as unexplained. The coroner concluded that Mr. Nolan accidentally set fire to himself while lighting a cigarette and the cause of death was given as "accidental ignition of clothing".
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. For combustion not involving the human body, see spontaneous combustion.

We can affect brain function with transcranial magnetic stimulation , for example. But again people make that association, that's just a little too simplistic, that magnets equal pseudoscience, that spontaneous combustion equals pseudoscience, but this is perfectly legitimate.
